Cruisin - photos at 70mph
And you've stopped too long already.
You just have to take the shot at 70 mph.
The roads are straight and fade into the distant horizon with traffic nowhere to be seen - ahead or behind. The scenery is surreal.
Cruise control and knees anchoring the wheel,
these photos were taking on the 11 hour trip to my dad's home in Las Vegas. On the move attempts trying to capture the amazing majesty of these surreal landscapes.
(If the image does not include the highway, it was taken from the driver's seat looking out the left window.) Clean windows very important. 1/4000 sec recommended.

Black Lake at 75 MPH
Driving north on Highway 120, Black Lake to the right and a storm straight ahead. I took this photo in the car driving at 75 mph - a necessity when covering 780 miles in 10 hours. The long straight road with miles of uninterrupted vistas is one of many on this 'lonely road' journey.
Traffic Jam on 120
Driving north on CA state highway 120, traffic gets heavy as visible in the lone car in sight. This is a crowded highway in this part of the journey. Mammoth Peak, Mt. Gibbs and Mt. Dana dominate our desert drive.
