Horses are majestic, even inspiring, animals. They propelled man’s evolution several steps forward when man learned to ride them and they willingly, if ultimately, subscribed. Far more physically powerful than humans, they nonetheless comply with our desire to use their speed strength and power for our own good. Treated with compassion, a horse will bond with their human counterpart in ways that transcend both horse and rider.

Horses represent an integral citizen in the California foothills where I live. I love to photograph them. Through these images, I hope to convey their special stature in the animal kingdom as well as in the world of man.
